The Importance of Free Speech, Lessons From China

Covid 19 is a virus that has killed over 5 million people in the world as of Nov 2021.   Many of those people might be alive if China hadn't tried to cover up the outbreak in Wuhan.  Why would a country cover up that a sickness broke out there?  One reason would be if they were responsible for the outbreak.  There is a lot of evidence that the Chinese developed the virus in a government lab in the city of Wuhan and that the virus got out of the lab.  If the Chinese people knew that their government had developed that virus and through negligence released it into the population they would be very angry at their government which is why the government hid the truth and eliminated those who told the truth.

People are afraid to speak their minds in China.  People live in fear.

China is planning to invade and conquer Taiwan.  That will result in a lot more dead Chinese both in Taiwan and in mainland China.  If America comes to the aid of Taiwan that will result in the death of many Americans and even more Chinese.  It might even result in a nuclear war.  No citizen of China dares point that out.  If all the Chinese who wanted to avoid World War 3 spoke out against it perhaps they would rise up against their government and prevent it from happening.  However there is no free speech in China and the result very well could be World War III.
